My Latest Challenge

As many of you may or may not know, I have been involved with StormFM, Bangors student radio for many months now. Recently, I decided that I wanted to be even more involved in a more technical and hands on way and so, stood for the role of Head of IT/Tech. Well, I’m happy to announce that I actually got this role!
Today I had my official induction hand over type thing and got talked through the systems by my predecessor. I’m not going to lie, there was a whole lot to take in all in a couple of hours, but I think I got the general gist of the way Storm broadcasts and definitely learnt some new stuff. Obviously I then went home, made up some notes and diagrams to help me remember and then decided to really get stuck in and learn the way I find best, fiddling. Obviously I wasn’t fiddling with live storm stuff otherwise that could have been catastrophic, instead I downloaded a load of the stuff they use and did it all on my local pc.

Really, what I’ve learnt the most today is that I have a lot to learn about the system and technical side of StormFM and that I’ve volunteered myself for what is probably one of my biggest challenging roles yet, but boy am I REALLY looking forward to it.

Here’s to an educational, enjoyable and productive year as Head of Tech.
Cheers.
